Check references online, good or bad, it tells a story of who the agents are who work your area.  Interview agents who know your neighborhood, or know your market. Experience is a great thing to have. At least have three to five agents come out to your home and give you an estimate of value.  This is important, because the knowledgable ones will come close in price with each other, and tell you similar things about your market.

In today’s market, there is no reason to do a long term listing.  three months should be plenty of time. If they don’t sell your home but you feel good about them, you can always extend the listing time month to month.

Finally, you want an agent who answers their calls and returns your calls in a timely manner. Busy is fine, but if they are too busy to call you back, they are too busy to list.
